Voodoo Spiritual Temple is a long-running spiritual centre in New Orleans that presents Voodoo as an active practice rather than a purely folkloric curiosity. Established in 1990, the temple offers services associated with African-diaspora religious traditions, including consultations, spiritual healings, and ritual work, alongside a small shop offering items commonly used in devotional and protective practice.

The temple’s significance is shaped by the tension that has long surrounded Voodoo in Louisiana: a religion and set of practices often misrepresented through fear, sensational storytelling, and commercial horror imagery. In contrast, the temple frames its work through healing, prayer, and tradition, while still operating in a city where cemetery culture, ghost narratives, and “curse” mythology are part of the public identity.
