Tom Devlin's Monster Museum

A horror and special-effects museum in Boulder City, Nevada, filled with screen-used props, creature suits, and handcrafted monsters from film history.

Tom Devlin’s Monster Museum is a compact but packed horror stop just outside Las Vegas, created by special make-up effects artist Tom Devlin. The mission here is simple: preserve the art of movie monsters. Inside you’ll find screen-used and production-used pieces, creature suits, masks, animatronics, and original builds inspired by classic horror, arranged like a walk-through shrine to practical effects.

The experience feels more like stepping into a working effects workshop than a traditional museum. Display cases are crammed with grisly details up close, while life-sized figures and creatures loom in the corners. Outside, the museum is instantly recognisable thanks to its bold monster-painted facade and the infamous custom hearse parked out front, turning the whole place into a photo stop even before you enter.

It’s a love letter to latex, blood rigs and craftsmanship, and it hits the sweet spot between fan pilgrimage and behind-the-scenes film history. If you’re into horror, creature design, or the magic of old-school FX, this is one of the most fun “dark” museums in the American Southwest.

Location: Located in Boulder City, between Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam.
