Rosala Viking Centre

Rosala Viking Centre is located in the Finnish archipelago, where it recreates the atmosphere of a Viking trading post and settlement. The centre was established to illustrate the contact between Scandinavia and the coastal regions of Finland during the Viking Age, when trade, raids, and cultural exchange shaped the Baltic Sea world.
At the heart of Rosala lies a reconstructed chieftain’s hall, richly decorated to reflect power and hospitality. Surrounding it are workshops, smaller dwellings, and a sacrificial site that together create a vivid picture of Viking life. Visitors can try hands-on activities such as archery, crafts, and games, or join in seasonal feasts and storytelling events.
The site also highlights the darker aspects of the Viking Age, including warfare, slavery, and ritual sacrifice, ensuring the experience does not shy away from the harsher realities of Norse culture. Combined with its remote island location, Rosala Viking Centre offers an immersive step back into a world where myth, power, and survival intertwined.
