Rest In Pieces is a strikingly gothic oddities emporium on South Laurel Street in Richmond’s Oregon Hill neighborhood—just a block from the historic Hollywood Cemetery. Opened in 2014 by Justin Torone and Alaina Gearhart, the shop-museum fuses taxidermy, wet specimens, crystals, bones, skulls, antiques, and occult-themed curiosities in a cathedral-like space painted matte black.
The inventory includes ethically sourced animal skulls, wet specimens preserved in jars, mounted insect displays, vintage medical equipment, and even a two-headed calf. Visitors describe it as “immediate overwhelming, immersive,” with displays so dense the walls groan beneath the weight of rarities.
Beyond browsing, the shop offers custom preservation services—wet or dry taxidermy, skull cleaning via dermestid beetles, and memorial pieces like framed paw prints. It doubles as a mini‑museum, with macabre installations, books, and rotating odd exhibits in an intimate and eerie setting.
