Nimhans Brain Museum

Located within the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore, the NIMHANS Brain Museum stands as India's only museum dedicated to the human brain. Established in 2010, this specialized institution houses an extensive collection of over 400 human brain specimens, meticulously preserved and displayed to educate visitors on neuroanatomy and various neurological conditions.

The museum's exhibits encompass a wide range of specimens, including brains affected by head injuries, cerebrovascular diseases, infections, neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, and tumors. Additionally, the collection features brains from various animal species, offering comparative insights into neuroanatomy. One of the museum's most distinctive features is the opportunity for visitors to touch and hold real human brains, providing a tactile and immersive learning experience.

Guided tours are conducted on Wednesdays and Saturdays, offering in-depth explanations of brain structures and functions. These tours also aim to demystify neurological diseases, promote awareness about brain health, and encourage organ donation.
