Museum of Sorcery & Witchcraft (Icelandic: Galdrasýning á Ströndum), located in the coastal town of Hólmavík, Iceland, is a privately operated yet publicly accessible museum that explores the rich and unsettling folklore of Icelandic magic. Open since June 2000 and run by Strandagaldur, it was founded on research dating back to 1996 and curated until 2018 by folklorist Sigurður Atlason.
The museum features both permanent and rotating exhibitions on subjects like the infamous necropants (nábrók), magical staves, Tilberi (milk-sucking demons), and Icelandic grimoires. Upstairs, a dedicated section examines the history of 17th‑century witch hunts in Iceland—including genealogical displays that invite visitors to reflect on their possible ties to historical witches or accusers.
With roughly 11,000 visitors annually, the museum also houses Restaurant Galdur, offering hearty Icelandic fare such as meat soup and seafood chowder. Visitors can explore artifacts, mystical tools, photos, and audio tours that deepen the immersive experience of folklore and superstition.
