Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker is an underground complex in rural Cheshire that evolved through several phases of military use before becoming part of the United Kingdom’s Cold War civil-defence infrastructure. The site’s earliest wartime role was linked to deception and air defence, before later redevelopment as a protected bunker within Britain’s post-war radar and command network.

In the late Cold War era, the facility was converted under strict secrecy into a Regional Government Headquarters, intended to function as a hardened centre for administration, communications, and coordination in the event that nuclear attack disrupted normal government operations. Its protected access points, reinforced structure, and compartmentalised interior reflect a design shaped by assumptions of blast, contamination, and societal breakdown.

After the Cold War, the bunker was decommissioned and sold, then reopened to the public as a museum.
